India’s men weightlifters have played a key role in the country’s medal push at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. Rishikanta Singh got things underway with silver in the men’s 60kg category, setting a Games record in the snatch and becoming the first able-bodied Indian medallist of the Games.

Muthupandi Raja followed on the same day with silver in the men’s 65kg category, and Valluri Ajaya Babu later added another silver in the men’s 79kg division. Lovepreet Singh, who won bronze at the previous edition in Birmingham 2022, was also part of the squad looking to add to the tally in the remaining categories.
