Jofra Archer Latest Update: Recent Form and Performances

From a Player of the Series award against New Zealand to a heavy IPL workload, here's the latest on Jofra Archer's remarkable return to full fitness.

After years disrupted by stress fractures and elbow surgery, Jofra Archer’s 2026 has been the most consistent season of his career – and it shows no signs of slowing down.

A packed year

Archer finished as Rajasthan Royals’ leading wicket-taker in IPL 2026 with 25 scalps in 16 matches, then carried that form into England’s international summer. He won the Player of the Series award in the Test series against New Zealand in June, before backing it up in the T20I series that followed. In England’s Test series against Pakistan, he took 12 wickets at an average of 26.67, and by the end of the third Test he had made his 35th appearance of an English summer across formats and continents – a workload that will likely exceed the 37 matches he played in 2018.

Recent form against Sri Lanka

Archer played his part in England’s 3-0 sweep of Sri Lanka, taking 2 for 23 in the series-deciding third T20I at Old Trafford as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 124. It’s the kind of contribution that has become typical of his 2026 – reliable, economical, and rarely the headline, even when it matters most.

Managing the workload

England’s move to a four-man seam rotation, alongside Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson, has been credited by Archer himself as a key factor in his durability. “It’s really nice having the extra seamers in the line-up,” he said. “I could play until I’m 40 at this rate.” Given his injury history, that shared workload model looks like the clearest reason his body has held up through such a demanding calendar.
