Coco Gauff: US Open Result and WTA Ranking

Coco Gauff produced one of the comebacks of the tournament before falling in the US Open semifinals. Here is her result, her current form and her WTA ranking.

Coco Gauff spent most of her US Open quarterfinal losing. She still found a way into the last four, which has become a fairly reliable summary of her season.

## The Result

Gauff reached the semifinals, where she lost to eventual champion Elena Rybakina. It was her first US Open semifinal since 2023, the year she won the title.

## The Comeback That Defined Her Fortnight

The quarterfinal against Mirra Andreeva was the match of the tournament for many watching. Gauff lost the first set 6-2, saved two match points in a second-set tiebreak, and won 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-2.

– She won a 39-shot rally at 4-3 in the tiebreak with a drop-shot winner
– She committed 42 unforced errors and 12 double faults, and won anyway
– The win took her career record against Andreeva to 6-0

It was the fifth time she has saved a match point at tour level.

## Where She Ranks

Gauff sits at world No. 4 with 7,244 points, just 21 behind compatriot Jessica Pegula in third. That is close enough that a single good week either way flips the order.

## Form Beyond New York

The underlying numbers are strong. Gauff arrived in New York on an 11-match winning streak dating back to her Cincinnati title, and had won 20 of her previous 22 matches since Wimbledon, reaching four consecutive semifinals.

Her quarterfinal win was also her 90th match win at a major, tying Chris Evert for the fourth most by an American woman before turning 23.

For the player who ended her run, see our report on Rybakina’s US Open title. Her closest ranking rival is covered in Jessica Pegula’s US Open result and ranking, and the opponent she edged is profiled in Mirra Andreeva’s US Open performance.

## The Takeaway

Gauff’s serve remains the swing factor. When the double faults drop, the rest of her game is already at the level required.
