Track the weightlifting records broken at Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, including Rishikanta Singh's Games record snatch and Mirabai Chanu's historic gold.

India’s weightlifters have contributed to some of the standout record-breaking moments at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow — part of a wider trend covered in our new records broken at CWG 2026 round-up. Rishikanta Singh set a new Games record in the snatch discipline of the men’s 60kg category on his way to a silver medal, becoming the first able-bodied Indian athlete to reach the podium at these Games.

Mirabai Chanu’s win in the women’s 48kg category, meanwhile, was historic in its own right, making her the first Indian weightlifter to claim three consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medals, a run that began at Gold Coast 2018 and continued through Birmingham 2022 to Glasgow 2026. Read more in our list of the best Indian weightlifters in history and the full medal list.

With India traditionally strong across the lighter weight categories in both the men’s and women’s competitions, further records were considered possible as the remaining categories were contested through the later days of the Games.
