India’s men have delivered some of the most memorable athletics moments of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. Sarvesh Kushare opened the account with a silver in the men’s high jump, clearing 2.25m but finishing behind Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford on countback after both athletes cleared the same height.
Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh then produced a career-defining run to win silver in the men’s 10,000m, clocking 27:49.78 behind Australia’s Ky Robinson. The result made Gulveer only the third Indian man in history, after the legendary Milkha Singh and more recently Avinash Sable, to win an individual Commonwealth Games medal in a men’s track event.
Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar added another silver, leaping 8.09m and narrowly missing out on gold by just six centimetres. In para athletics, Dilip Mahadu Gavit produced a Games Record of 10.71 seconds to win gold in the men’s 100m T47, with Mohammed Basil M completing a memorable Indian 1-2 finish by taking silver in the same event.
